Doug graduated from the University of New England in March 2004 with two degrees; a Bachelor Computer Science and a Bachelor of Laws (with First Class Honours). Doug went on to complete the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice with the College of Law in July 2004. He then entered legal practice as an employed solicitor with Weaver, Gentle & Harrison in Armidale NSW.

In November 2005 Doug transitioned to the newly opened Armidale branch office of Liston & Loveband. He continued to work for this firm through a number of name changes and changing partnership structures, including Liston & Clifton and Clifton Legal. In 2012 there was an opportunity for Doug to become the primary solicitor working out of the firms Tenterfield Branch Office and has been assisting the Tenterfield community since this time. In 2013 Doug completed the requirements for acknowledgement by the Law Society of NSW as being an accredited specialist in the area of Property Law.

Doug has a real interest in Property Law as well as Succession Planning including all matters involving Wills and Estates. On 1 January 2018 Doug and Terri Smith purchased the Tenterfield branch office of Clifton Legal from David Clifton and commenced trading as Property Law & More. While Doug has a real passion for property law and wills and estates he also has extensive experience in criminal law, family law, business law, franchise law and civil litigation.

Doug is a director of the firm and leads the team. He has developed expertise as a property and commercial lawyer with years of experience in the areas of property law, wills and estate and commercial law. Doug is trusted by his clients to deliver clear, astute and practical advice and to ensure that the Property Law & more team deliver on their promise to offer top tier legal advice, promptly, while ensuring that the client’s needs and wishes are met. He is here to assist you with all your legal needs.

Scott joined Clifton Legal in 2013 as a Law Clerk while completing his studies, and has been a solicitor with Clifton Legal since his admission to practice in 2014 save for a short time with Armidale Regional Council. He now heads the Property Law & More team in Armidale.

Scott brings extensive commercial experience to our firm, having been a licensed real estate agent for nearly 20 years, owning and operating his own agency for 10 years. Having sold that business, Scott undertook his law studies at UNE while operating a small hospitality business.

With strong ties to the Armidale community, and a commitment to the country lifestyle, Scott has a special interest in small business, real property, commercial leasing and sales, and commercial law and wills and estates. Scott is passionate about his rugby, and has been an executive member of New England Rugby Union for a number of years, as well as being actively involved in local cricket as a player and with junior representative teams. Scott is also a member of the executive of St Albert’s College (UNE) Senior Common Room and takes an active role in mentoring and providing academic assistance to the student body. Scott has coached the St Albert’s Rugby Club First Grade Team for the past 2 years.

Terri began her legal career working as a receptionist and secretary for a local law firm in 1999 and has worked in the industry ever since. Over this time she has developed practical skills and knowledge in areas such as, customer relations, legal secretarial and business administration, bookkeeping, conveyancing, many other areas of the law and the legal system.

While employed and raising her family, Terri has continued to upgrade her qualifications over the years completing a Diploma in Accounting (with Distinction) an Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies) at Southern Cross University and obtaining her Conveyancing License.

Terri and her family have resided in Tenterfield for many years and she enjoys the friendly and relaxed feel the country town has to offer. To start a family business in Tenterfield is satisfying and she looks forward to providing quality professional legal services to the community for years to come.

Robyn joined us in early 2018 following over 18 years undertaking conveyancing work with another local law firm and is a lifelong resident of Armidale.

Robyn has successfully adapted her extensive conveyancing experience to the PEXA digital conveyancing platform and is an extremely valuable member of our team.

Lauren initially came to work with Property Law & More as an intern obtaining work experience in the industry. She fitted in so well we decided to keep her. She has made herself indispensable by creating a filing system that only she fully understands.

After completing her traineeship and a Certificate III Business Administration through TAFE, Lauren is now undertaking a Diploma in Legal Studies externally though UNE. Lauren is the first point of call when you come into or telephone the Tenterfield office.
